Greetings

We at KGC Fukuoka give a top priority to having a good general foundation in English proficiency. Without the basics, we will obviously get nowhere. We are the English School where we do our best to instil in our students an understanding of this simple fact, and more importantly, for English to become part of themselves.

Our teaching policy

We help students learn practical English on practical basis. In addition to the four major skills, `reading`, `listening`, `speaking` and `writing` accompanying any language acquisition, we also help them understand the cultural, and emotional aspects of English language which we see are crucial to understanding the language: native English speakers’ logic and their way of perceiving the world, i.e., a matter of frame of reference. These are important points after all, but it is true that English learners often fall into the trap of missing these points when learning English as a foreign language. In fact, we come across many sentences and statements which are grammatically correct but are not usually used in `real English`.

Our teaching method

KGC focuses on the methodologies named ‘Direct’, ‘Phonics’, and ‘Spiral’ respectively. ‘Direct’ is that most of the lessons are conducted by well-educated, well-trained native English speaking teachers, ‘Phonics’ is, in short, matching pronunciation and spelling, and ‘Spiral’ is a whole process of accumulating language experience by repetition. Furthermore, we put emphasis on practical English grammar, especially so on `how to use verbs efficiently` for students to be able to use English effortlessly under any circumstances.

How we meet diverse needs students have

Students’ purposes to learn English may be different, but they could be categorized into two areas; the first one is about the basics, and the second one regards applied and advanced aspects of English learning. When we come to think of this, the beginners are inevitably concerned with the grammatical sphere such as vocabulary building, acquiring correct pronunciation, intonation, and knowing as much as possible about sentence structures, and so on.

On the other hand, the advanced learners are more concerned with having a working knowledge of a variety of expressions as well as understanding cultural differences, which is essential so as to acquire good cross- cultural communication skills. Allowing for these, we at KGC Fukuoka adopt a very simple lesson policy; there is no royal road to mastering English without working hard on the basics again and again, day after day.

The number of lessons, lesson hours, and what’s new

We at KGC Fukuoka are willing to offer as many lessons as possible on an annual basis, plus there are two wholly new courses we have to offer that are based on a unique concept in Kyushu as well as here in Fukuoka.

We are more than happy to tell you a couple of examples: full one hour class lesson, 44-46 sessions per year, for preschool and elementary school children; one-to-one lesson with a minimum time of 2 hours for adult students with various learning purposes―Short-Term Intensive One- to-One English Training Program, and for TOEIC® test preparation, TOEIC®Gasshuku (TOEIC Overnight Preparation)― is now available for those claiming that they are too busy to find time to get themselves ready for the test.

For further information on these courses, please click to see a new KGC website and the page of TOEIC Short-Term Intensive Course respectively.

Thank you for taking the time to read this welcome message.
